Re: People at work who 'reply all' to show how busy they are
I once worked for a company where a woman lost her job for one to many "has anyone seen my mug?" emails. She was very annoying, and I feel it was her massive stupidity evidenced by doing it repeatedly even after being asked numerous times, that actually got her fired. None of the people among the 300 employees who delighted in sending replies to all saying 'No' got into any trouble though.

Personally I couldn't give a toss. I do my job well, and I know where the delete key is. If other people want to wind each other up or be wound up with others messaging habits I really don't care.

I'm more upset that all the slightly exciting spam I used to get sent when I was younger, has been replaced with marketing for life assurance and will writing services.

It seems Bungo has a certificate in flogging aspirin, which makes him a leading expert on all forms of business practice, especially compliance.

What's it about mate? Is it a detailed report about compliance? Otherwise, it's not really relevant, is it?

MiM - Note the last line of my previous post. I don't give a shit what he does for a living, but his argument about compliance is bollocks.

Why is Surf so concerned with telling Bungo what he does or doesn't do for a living?

Re: People at work who 'reply all' to show how busy they are
Or we could be less dull and imagine this situation.

Auditor: How do you ensure everybody is aware of all the latest regulations?
Your compliance department: We send an email to all.
Auditor: What about holidays, long-term sickness, lazy bastards, etc? How do you know people have actually read the email?
YCD: We don't.
Auditor: Writes down something shitty in notebook with green ink.

No need to be so sensitive, this is constructive criticism. Really, I should be charging you.

It does mean your argument is pants, though.

If you want to have a meaningful dialogue with me about my world of work, I suggest you first read and understand the ABPI Code of Practice.

Then apply for, take and pass the ABPI Medical Representatives examination (I did in 1994).

Then we'll converse.

Sorry, you don't work in compliance - you're just happy that they have no systems.

"So I have no problem in people replying all in some situations, it's the snides who copy people in the first place that annoy me"

Spot on..

And also, they are generally the one's that are not doing that much work, so feel the need to tell the whole fucking world when they do actually do something for once.

So you work in a compliance department that has in place no system whatsoever to ensure that all staff have read compliance directives?
